what contexts can i (correctly) use the word profiling in, other than criminal/racial?

In computer programming, to "profile" a program is to find which parts of the code it spends the greatest time in. The tool which is used to do this builds up a profile of time spent in each group of lines in the program. Then the programmer can work on the most-used parts to make them slicker.
