A vertex is where 2 points meet. if at the ends of an angle you had y and x and your vertex h, it would be named angle yhx

Usually with a capital letter. Then a line segment between vertex A and vertex B can be named line AB.
But it really doesn't matter what you call it (as long as it's consistent) unless you are being required to follow the traditional convention(s).

In Geometry, vertices are generally named as letters (i.e. A, B, etc.) So a triangle has 3 vertices: A, B and C, conected by line segments AB, BC, and AC
