1 hook up the good battery , red to red black to black
2 hook up said bad battery
3 let run for about 2-3 min
4 start car if it starts take your time and reverse procedure, do not touch red and black
cables together they will spark and could cause damage to good battery.
hope this helps.

Okay, I will try my best. On the car with the dead battery, connect the positive clamp(RED) to the positive terminal of the battery(PLUS +). Then the negative clamp(black) to the negative terminal(minus -). Clamp the positive(RED) to the positive terminal on the good battery. Then clamp the negative(black) to the negative terminal. Now this is where a lot of people disagree. Some still believe that you should start the car with the good battery and rev it, wait 30seconds - 1min and then start the car with the bad battery. Now on newer cars, there are so many electrical components that can be damage, especially the ECU if there was a voltage surge during this procedure. Now a lot of us in the field feel that you don't have to start the car with the good battery but rather let the bad battery get some voltage from the good one by just waiting at about the same amount of time. I feel this is the best way to jump start the car. If you think about it when an auto shop has to jump start a car, do they even use another car to jumpstart it with? No, they use a jumpstarter, which is really another battery. After the car starts, just do the opposite and your good to go. Hope this helps you

Since there are so many to chose from > Always connect the positive+ cables first Red cable end to the large terminal on the battery's as this reduces the chance of a spark and battery explosion, then connect the negative cables - Black terminal start engine and let run at high idle,3=4 minutes then start other engine.Remove negative cables first then positive>? Think safety first>?

On the newer cars it should show you in the owners manual!
1; Battery jumper cables (good battery first) red to positive, black to negative. 2; Battery jumping to black (negative to alternator mounting bracket) it's done this way to protect the batteries during the jump. 3; when ready to start touch or hook the red (Positive) cable and start the car.
If this doesn't work go directly to the battery with the negative cable but disconnect red (Positive) cable first, connect the black (Negative) cable then only touch the red (Positive to the terminal to the post to start the car. Yes 2 people are needed for safety.

After getting the cars close enough for the cables to reach and opening both hoods:

Connect the red ends of the cables to the positive terminals, the ones with red caps or the larger ones. The terminals are different sizes to keep them straight.

Connect one black cable end to the negative (black) terminal of the running vehicle. Connect the other black end to something metal connected to the other vehicle's frame, not to the other negative terminal.

Wait a few minutes. You should see the lights like the dome light brighten. If they don't, check the cable connections. Then after a few minutes, try it. It may take 5 minutes or so at most.

Good luck!

ok first Red is Positive black is Negative Make sure cars are turned off. Place a red cable attachment on the positive side of your battery and place the black attachment on the Negative side of yoru Battery. Same Process of the vehicle that actually runs. then make sure the vehicle that runs starts their car first then you try to start the vehicle that isn't running. hope this helps.
