I am renting out my house in the State of Michigan

Lias said "thats weird". No kidding. The tennant was 3 months late on the rent and was about to be evicted. Then one night they loaded up a few things and left the state. There were all kinds of unpaid bills left behind, bad checks and what-not. The house was just trashed, its a shame because until they moved in it was a nice place. Garbage in every room, every wall a whole, the entire house dipped in discusting filth. Except for the front room it was clean with new carpet! Anyway the old carpet was ok, there was some ware but not any kind of safety hazard. So one day (before they moved away) he says to me, "I'd really like to replace this carpet", I'm looking at it and all I can see is dirty kids cloths, dog crap and junk completly covering the floor. I'm thinking, why bother you can't even SEE the carpet. I told him no, then said that when he got caught up on his late rent I might give it some consideration. I have never delt with this carpet company could be a scam they cooked up.

No.

The contract is between the carpet company and whoever signed the contract. You can not be obligated to live up to a contract not signed by you unless you gave authority to someone to act as your agent and sign contracts for you.

There is one exception however.

If in the past you let the tenant go ahead and get repairs and replace worn items without prior authorization and then settled up later on the cost, you are stuck. This would be no different than those prior events. If you have been operating this way, stop it immediately before the renter goes and gets you a new roof!

It depends on the condition of the original carpet. If it was all moldy and could be a safety issue they can and should be able to get it replaced with a reasonable and comparable replacement. And should be able to knock the cost of their rent. If they didn't even ask though...that's weird.

if you did not sign the contract no. Check out your lease and how it is worded.
Tell the carpet company you did not order it and your thinking of sueing them for damage to your property.

Assuming you're telling us the whole story, no you do not have to pay. You can either leave it there and let the tenant pay for it, or have it removed and bill the tenant the removal expenses.
