School can be frustrating, but whatever happens, society rewards people who value learning and will seek out ways to do so on their own. You won't have a teacher explaining everything to you or pointing you to a page in the book all your life. If you're planning on college, you're going to have to get used to this type of thing. If you're not planning on college, why the hell do you care about doing your homework?
You have the internet that allows you to spend time on Yahoo! Answers. Use the internet to help you with this homework.
It sounds like you're in high school. If I'm right, you're probably going through an aggressive and irritable time in your life. That's pretty common. So go ahead and get irritated. Feel aggressive. **** your teachers. But... if you're going to let your attitude affect your grades, your teacher isn't gonna give a sh*t. You're the only person who's affected by it. Do your homework as best you can. Accomplish your stuff so that he has no excuse to give you bad grades.

In the US, school is a rigid, inflexible place with far too many rules, that try to force conformity.
See if you can find some friends who feel the same way too, support each other, but _don't_ egg each other on to rebel. You might as well just do the best you can, to take what you need and leave the rest.
About that particular situation, it will happen at work, too. So I agree with asking the teacher for help, he/she may then realize they didn't cover the material, or help you find a way to get the help you need (Internet or- gasp- library).
You will find parts of school you enjoy, and you will meet some teachers who can actually teach.
The longer you are there, the closer you get to escaping, the more you will enjoy it.
And- if you just started jr./sr. high school, part of your frustration is just plain nervousness or even fear of a new environment, and that is normal . It will go away.

Stuff like that happens. I've gone through it before. What helped me was, I would seek extra help from your teacher, if it doesn't work, work with friends at school. Form a type of study group, or maybe just have a tutor.

Does your mother still cut up your meat for you at dinner time and feed you with a spoon? Some times you have to take responsibility for yourself. It's YOUR EDUCATION, start to discover the resources available that will open up the world and your future to you. This teacher is indirectly telling you that he believes in your ability to direct your education by yourself.

School can be the worst place ever if you let it be. Who cares if he didn't teach it or if its not in the book. It's called research and students should be doing a bit of it once in a while. Don't let stupid teachers ruin your education. Sometimes, we gotta educate ourselves!
