My lifetime: "Baby On Board" signs in cars, Cabbage Patch kids, extreme bell bottom slacks, pet rocks, streaking.
Before my lifetime: find this book in the library - a great source!
"Fads, Follies and Delusions of the American People" - Paul Sann, Crown Publishing, Inc. 1967
Superheroes, pole sitting, chain letters, dianetics, hula hoops, Davy Crockett, Billy Sunday, Sister Aimee, Father Coughlin, rock n' roll, pantie raids. This is a fun and enlightening book.

hmm......let's see....in my time, i saw mood rings, the pet rock, disco, lava lamps, and the rubik's cube wax and wane, though the cube and the lamp have made a comeback of sorts, here as of late.
fads of the past before my time that come to mind are coonskin hats, hula hoops, poodle skirts, zoot suits, and racoon coats.
