My friend was raped a little over 4 years ago by her co-worker at work. March 2008 will be the 5 year mark.
She is finally starting to deal with her pain by talking to people about it, but she was wondering if she would be able to have a case against him ? Of course all evidence is long gone .. but she still has the memories (yes, plural .. this guy should burn) of everything that happened.
I know that he has done this before, but he held a position of power and was well liked by everyone. Could she get into contact w/ other women to try and build a case ? Or is this a lost cause ?
Any advice would be helpful. She is such a strong person by having all of this pain for so long and I think this would help her close a lot of doors if bringing a case against him is possible.

And she no longer works with him ... he was fired for attempting to seduce a 14 year old via the internet. He was 25 at the time of that occurence.

Have your friend contact the local rape crisis organization. They will have an advocate that can help her through the process.
It's not your friends job to build a case - that is for law enforcement to do. After contacting the rape crisis center, the advocate can assist your friend in contacting and working with law enforcement. Given the long period of time that has pass, there may not be much the law can do, but it would probably help your friend to go ahead and contact them. If she's going to do it - she needs to do it now. Rape does have a statute of limitations. In my state it is 7 years.

I'm sorry to hear about that. But I'm sorry to day that unless you have hard evidence, you cannot present a case merely based on memory. There have been too many accounts of women faking a rape to get back at an ex or such, and only basing the case on memory. So, I don't think there is anything you can do.

No they are not the same thing. Pro life is about protecting an unborn child...it really has nothing to do with trying to control a woman's body. Of course, pro choicers think pro life is all about punishing the woman...it's not. It's just about giving the unborn child the right to life. It depends on how you look at it. If you want to see the pro life movement as all about "controlling" women, then that is what you will see. But I promise you, I am not pro life because I want to see a woman "suffer" or be "punished". I just simply think that child has a right to be born. RU, if you think trying to protect an unborn child is the most barbaric thing you've ever seen, I suggest you read the news. There are plenty of more barbaric things going on this world.

well, with no evidence, probably not gonna win a case like that. best bet, She needs to contact athorities and accuse him. Hopefully if it is made public, others will come forward that DO have evidence. At the very least, it casts a shadow of doubt around this man and make his life very difficult.

Your friend needs to seriously consider the ordeal it would be and how difficult it would be to convict him without evidence and when she's continued to work with him all those years since. If other women had similar experiences and they all approached the D.A. together, maybe they would take it on... But really think about what would be enough to convince a jury.

If he did this before, then maybe she should try to get the other victims to step forward as well. Maybe they can all receive justice for what he did to them. But if no one steps up, it will be her word against his, and without any good evidence, I don't think anything can be done. I'm not a law guru or anything like that, but this is just my opinion.

the law is not the issue...do what feels right...
-call police now
-call the woman's help line
-seek fellow victims to "build an air-tight case"
-see a lawyer and get real advice
-talk to comforters, especially God
-get counselling
-forgive our instinctive male testosterone & those troublesome aggressive male hormones
-forgive God
-forgive yourself
Note:
-"Returning good for evil" does NOT require you to let him free to find more victims!
God bless you Watson, and your friend. May you feel His loving arms around you, comforting you.
"His peace passes understanding"!
Life on this sin-cursed earth is hellish.
"You can't take it with you" includes the pain and regret of this life! In the REALITY of after-life in heaven, this life will be just a bad dream...
...only a forget-able nightmare, that is over forever!
"Joy comes in the morning". In God's "REAL" world, it was "just a bad dream".
Try to see it from that eternal prospective, when it hurts too much! IT NEVER EVEN HAPPENED!!!

Sounds like a matter for the authorities. Let the police handle it before she mishandles it.
