Because there are so many choices and we ofttimes have no strong preference.
Of course, there are those other times when we know what is right and don't want to do it. So, we choose something else, knowing it's wrong, and then keep vacillating because we know it isn't right.
Then again, there are still other times when we simply think something through and come up with a better choice. Like this.

As time brings changes, we project our inclinations against our perceptions of the changes and adjust accordingly. However, sometimes our perceptions can be manipulated and we may falsely arrive at an inclination.Because of this.our perceptions should be subjected by rigorous thought to formulate a valid construct of self realization because we are defined by what we believe.

Because our brains work as electrochemical response boxes. Consciousness is an illusion. We are not conscious, beings that make choices based on reason. Rather, we choose things our brains are driven to choose and then we justify our choices as if they had been our own. If we were truly reason based in our thinking then our choices would only change if circumstances changed.

Because we think we know what we want then another thing comes along and we want that even more so we change our mind and get that instead. Also because we can.

Because we're prone to making snap decisions- that are usually WRONG. So we don't have much confidence in what we initially decide. A carefull decisionmaker- tends to be a Secure one; and thus doesn't change his or her mind so much.

well 1/2 of us are female, so no excuse is needed
the other half are male and we don't know whats on our minds untill our wives or girlfriends tell us what we should think.
and we ALL know how often a woman changes her mind on what shoes to wear,
So as you see it's not the males fault we just do and think what we are told.

I, personally, am indecisive. It's sometimes hard for me to stick with one answer, because I want to know the outcome from both. Or, I'll choose one answer, then when thinking about it more, I'll go with the other possibility. People doubt themselves alot. That's the only reason I can think of. Plus, sometimes there's more than one answer to a problem/question.

Because most people have such open minds that people throw crap in it and it gets filled, and then we don't know what to think because everyone has so much influence on everyone else.
