Be happy with yourself and you will do fine. Never let someone else opinion's stop you from doing something. Don't take things to seriously and have fun.

Sure. The only thing standing in the way of success is you.

So what if you don't win. Politics is a popuarlity contest about you being the right religion, kissing babies and saying what people want to hear.

You can take that approach or be like Ralph Nader and speak your mind and get 3,000 votes out of 150 million.

Ralph Nader is NOT loosing sleep over his loss in the elections!

He KNOWS who he is!

You need to learn that too!

those things are heavily based on popularity. i've experienced it first hand. it doesn't matter who's best for the job, just who's more well known and has that likeability factor. But check out who your competition is. And if you think you have a chance, go for it. But you're going to have to go out of your comfort zone and try to be more outgoing. But if you decide not to there are other things you can do. Clubs, sports, maybe a different position like treasurer if you have that.

best of luck!

There's no such thing as unpopular. You're better than those "popular" people, and that's all that matters. Just try to run anyway, what can happen if you lose? It's not like you'll get any punishment or consequence.

I'm the same way, I have friends who really care about me but I'm not popular, just be cool with it and you will be more popular. And by the way you should run for vice president!

Don't worry about it, you have friends and that's all you need. You don't need to be popular. And if you really want to be popular just socialise, it may seem intimidating, but you should just try it. And I think you should run for Vice President. It could help you if you want to be popular too.

I'm the same also. And I mean 'loner' also. And only a handful of trusted friends.

I think it's worthwhile... even if you don't win, if it's something you want to do--what can stop you?

Wouldn't you rather do something than regret it in the future?

I've heard that George Washington was shy. Was he popular? Oh he had friends. And a nation called England wanted him dead.

You know your class mates better than anyone on here, but I think you ought to go for it, even if you loose more people would know you and maybe bring you out of your shell.
