For every 500 square feet of house you need 1 ton of cooling.
So a 1500 to 1750 square foot house would need a 3 ton unit. Base price is about $1 per foot, but in 500 foot increments, plus average of $1500.00 for installation from a small company and about $2000.00 from the larger ones with the higher over head.
This will give you the ball park for most installations. If you have low or no attic space for duct work, and no room under neath the house you will have to either build furr downs ( boxes along the ceiling) or pay for a complete metal ducting system which gets real expensive real quick.
Hope yours is a simple install.
If you need to get bids, servicmagic.com might be able to help. All of their referrals are checked out and they will send your info to at least 3 differ ant guys for bids.

We paid $3,500 for an AC/furnace combination that will cool a 2200 sq. ft. house. It's on our roof or I would tell you how many BTU's it is. We had the ducting already so if you don't then you'll have to pay extra for that.
Just be sure you get at least 3 bids first and that the bids are for the same size AC unit. If you don't then you're comparing apples and oranges.
I wish you well.

depends on the sq footage and what the heat gain loss analysis calculation figured it out to be...but generally about 2000 per ton for the completed job plus the price of the gas furnace...a three ton unit with duct-work and furnace would be about 7500 dollars...if the price is way more than that get a different estimate from other installers...everyone should give free estimates...the price could vary greatly depending on your area and what hvac techs charge to install units...

$10 to $12 grand for a completely new system (furnace, A/C compressor, and duct work). You'll also need a 220V junction box installed at the location for the compressor.

many factors determine this. but ballpark would be 4400-6500. If duct replacement is needed another 3800.
