I by no means like Notre Dame, but I am looking forward to seeing him in action. He's supposed the be the next big thing in football. Was anyone actually pulling for one of the other QBs to get the job (besides parents and high school coaches)? How do you think he'll do, bad or really bad? He is after all a true freshman.

I am a huge Notre Dame fan.

And from that perspective, I suppose I want him to do well.
Unfortunately, I also can't stand the little butt weasel, because he is an arrogant turd. I probably am coming down too hard, but any cat who shows up to announce that he is gonna attend ND, by pulling up to the Hall of Fame in a stretch Hummer, and flashing his 4 high school rings, like they actually mean a dang thing in NCAA football...needs a reality lesson.

Now, even for those who aren't Notre Dame fans...this IS the college that brought us Joe Montana. Invented the forward pass...the 4 Horseman, Jerome Bettis...etc. This guy showed up weeks after Quinn set every passing record at the school (playing with a crappy O-line the whole time), and was actually still on campus.....and the Weasel shows up and tries to act like the big man on campus. He aint proved nothing.

He needs to go in there, and lose, and get the crap knocked outta him, and THEN, see if he can get back up, and inspire his teammates. Brady did. Montana did.

And actually, I would prefer Sharpely. I think he showed more poise, and leadership, and He doesn't already think he's the next Joe Montana. (apparently Jones does....but well.....).

I think he really was not given a chance to show much (not that any of them were, as soon as the ball was snapped, there was more GT players in the backfield the ND players).

But, I think Clausen could very well prove to be Weis big mistake. (that, and not recruiting any linemen worth a turd).

Unless Clausen gets his head shrink soon, he is already well on the road to Ryan Leaf-dom.

*Terry....you must not be watching the same interviews as the reast of us.

And those three and outs (including his), have to do more with the O-line than anything else. Til Charlie fixes that, we are toast.

And I like the look of the defense...very aggressive. They are young, though, so give them time to break in. And dont forget how long they were on the field.....the first half they played very well, but they got wore out being on the field the whole game.

That said, I do agree about Jones....any QB who can't throw, but changes to #3, "for the tradition" is a legend in his own mind. ND should retire #3. No one will be another Montana.

How is a team that's not ranked in the top 25 and predicted by many to be on track for less than 6 wins the "most overrated team ever"? I ask myself this question as I watch #5 Michigan lose at home, or #19 Florida St. go into the half down 24-3 to unranked Clemson (granted, at least the 'noles made a game of it). I guess I just want to take this opportunity to say that if they're anything, Notre Dame is NOT overrated this year so don't even play that card.

Anyway, back to the question- he's officially the starter? At this point, I don't think the QB matters that much. Anyone who watched the game can tell you that O-line was like a hooker's g-string: easily moved aside. I was personally pulling for D-Jones just because I thought the Irish needed his athleticism, but I guess I didn't realize that extent to which he couldn't pass.

Im a big Notre Dame fan and just bc Clausen is a true freshman and is the #1 Qb coming out of HS. His biggest problem will be himself and not letting his ego get the best of him. If he goes out week in and week out and doesnt let his head get to high in the clouds he could led ND to a decent bowl game with a 7-5 record

Pretty excited...Its about damn time, Charlie...I guess the first game was so the other two QBs could not say that Weis didn't give them a chance...Clausen is gonna lead the offense well...They won't get 3 and outs and fumbles like with the other 2 all the time...I'm concerned with how the defense looked though...but I'm hopeful Weis can get it straightened out...The offense will score though...I am confident about that...

...and to those bashing Clausen, he is not arrogant...He is a humble, unassuming guy...I think you must be thinking of Demetrius Jones, who blabbed about being the starter last week...Hope he enjoyed it, cause it lasted one game...

I like to see him start as a freshman because he is the future of ND. If he starts now, he will acquire game experience to help the next two seasons. He won't be good this year, but next year he will improve dramatically.

i think he will be worse then expected because he plays for the most over rated team in the nation if u play for notre dame your a superstar well it dont work like that thats y they always gets blown out in bowl games over rated and i think weis is going to him to get him ready for next year cause they suck. his brothers werent anything special in college so i honestly dont expect nothing from him except recognition
