There was a nest on the wall and I saw something black in it and I assumed it was a pretty big spider. I vaccumed it up but I'm wondering if that will kill it and if it can possibly get out?

Also, I had a spider in the sink the other day and I doused it with ajax powder and ran the sink. It seemed to swim but eventually it went down. Should I assume IT's dead?

Spiders are evil. They creep me out. I love ants though, they're so cute.

I hear ya. I think spiders find my place to be their Mecca (sp?). Anyhow. My rule is that as long as they are outside I let them live. If there is a way to get them out of my house without touching them I'll do it, but chances are that once they pass into my territory they're goners. I actually vacuumed up 5 spiders in one afternoon and had the same concern as you. I was crazy enough to spritz some spider spray into a rag and hold it up to the vacuum hose for a few secs...just in case...Go ahead Paul...you can make fun of me, too; I deserve it. (I have no problems with snakes, however)

You probably killed the spider when you vacuumed him up. But, that one you flushed down the sink will live in your drain pipes, eat raw sewage, and come back up as a tarantula that will kill you in your sleep.

Just kidding.

When you wash a bug down the drain, just make sure you flush it for at least several seconds. This washes the bug down past the water trap (that 180-degree loop in the drain line) and, unless your spider is an olympic swimmer, he won't be able to come back up from the drain pipes.

We get some nasty, huge wicked spiders where I live... If they stay in the backyard I'm ok with that... Once they get into the house they get sucked up the vacuum hose and thrown away ! I have some outside that "peer" into the windows.. I know they like to watch television and see what's going on ! LOL.. ! They also LOVE to jump out of my mailbox.. Which totally freaks me out !

This place my wife and i rented had huge spiders in the shed i tinkered on my tractors in - sprayed em with carb cleaner and sucked those 8 legged freaks into the vacuum cleaner. Hate em all.

You most likely killed both. Spiders serve a good purpose
so try catching them in a container a put them outside.

Very cruel. Most spiders are harmless unless provoked.
