Four days prior to my period, I was nauseated and ill, then on my designated day I received my friend for less then 24 hours total. The 2 days following it I am up all night throwing up, thinking I received my period(it seemed normal in the way it looked) though extremely shorter then normal and I have a virus. Can you be pregnant, have a one day period and still show negative on a test? If I should test again, when and what time of day it the best. Am I just having wishful thinking?

I am going through the same thing as we speak. I took 2 pregnancy test one was negative and the other had a very faint line and left me confused but I am calling my GYN in the morning to schedule an appointment for a blood test. I have 2 children already and I had my cycle the first 3 months with my youngest and the first 5 with my oldest, but I only showed negative urine test with the oldest. Your best bet is to call your GYN and schedule a blood test because that is the only sure way to know.

A period is the disposal of the unused egg and uterus lining. If it's not those 2 things coming out, it's not a period, it's just bleeding. About 20% of women report bleeding in the first trimester, some say it's very similar to a period. Take a test if there's a chance. Any bright red bleeding is a concern when pregnant, because half will end up micarrying in the first trimester.
