my laws that i would put in place would be simply 3:
1: Return to a smaller federal govt restoring state's rights as priority. That should get us out of most the crap that we stick our noses into foreign affairs, and allow states to work on the real issues that their populations experience in a timely manner.
2: Remove from office any elected official who benefits financially or otherwise from any and all workings, contracts and charity on behalf of our federal govt. This purpose is that monies spent by govt would benefit directly the causes for which the funds are earmarked, Halliburton in Iraq anyone?
3: Immediately repeal and criminalize any laws that inhibit the Bill of Rights, the US Constitution, and the remaining Amendments. These documents were put in place to stop the injustices brought to this country before our independence was won for a reason, and were not meant to be stepped on and ignored.

My law would be that prospective parents (those wishing to have children) must undergo a series of tests. I've noticed that uneducated and lower-socioeconomic families have the most children. Plus, I'm just disgusted by stories of child abuse, neglect, abandonment, etc. The government should require that potential parents undergo tests and counseling. In addition, these people should have to make a showing of financial ability to support the child.
I know this will NEVER happen, nor is it even a feasible option. But, in a perfect world....
