My Paw Paw used to make homemade muscadine jelly, and my mouth waters for it sometimes. It made the best PB&J sandwiches! My husband's granny used to make the best applesauce that I've ever tasted also! She also had a famous German sweet pickle recipe that won all kinds of blue ribbons and such. I miss all those things.

I miss all the family run taco shops back in Cali.
All of them had drive thru. All of them were open 24 hours, because sometimes, you just need a carne asada burrito at 3:15 in the morning.
It's kind of like that here in Texas with the BBQ. Not 24/7 though.
But I would give anything for some carne asada burritos, or some fish tacos.
People don't believe me when I tell them about fish tacos, but yes, they are real, and they are really good.

When I lived out West, there was this place called BadAss Jack's... they had subs with meat carved fresh off the roast, delicious homemade wraps that were made fresh right in front of you AND they made a homemade Jambalaya... It was so good... and I haven't been back West since I moved back here in 2002.... when I go back to visit, the first place I'm going is BadAss Jack's.

Back in my old home, there was this Chinese restaurant that would make a wonderful soup. It had chicken, corn, egg, it was so marvelous! The flavor would linger in your mouth and travel down your throat. My mouth just waters everytime I think of it. Man! How I wish to have a bowl of it again!!! >.<

When I was very young and living in Ohio, my mom would go to the local butcher and get these scewers wrapped in some kind of meat (maybe veal) and it was called "city chicken".
Now living in California, I would have no idea what to ask for or how to prepare it :(
