Usually, my uncle who was an officer said usually 5 miles over you won't get you pulled over on the highway ( I've been driving for 32 years no citations or wrecks), in the city though obey the speed limits, should on the highway as well but if you need to speed do 5 miles over....drive safely....

I live near a lot of schools, so on residential streets I tend to drive under the speed limit because of all the little kids that jump out in the middle of the street after dogs and balls and the parents that push a stroller into the street and THEN look for cars.

On the freeways I drive at whatever everyone else is going at mostly unless I'm on a road full of idiots going at 100+. It's hard to drive the speed limit on an open road like the 15 to Vegas or the 5 through central CA, you can't just drive, you have to look out for everyone else.

Since driving over the speed limit is against the law, and therefore a crime, I drive at the speed limit. I'm not one of the rest of the sheep who go ten and more miles per hour over the speed limit because "everyone else does".

When you drive the speed limit, you need never worry about being stuck inside a group of idiotic motorists; they pass you all at once. You allow yourself more time to brake for accidents and sudden changes in road conditions. Driving more slowly is also less stressful than trying to mimic Dale Earnhardt, Jr.

Who's in such a hurry, that they can't get to their destination a few minutes later?

Of course not. Between 5-15 mph over the limit

It called flow of traffic. As long as I'm not being smoked or smoking anybody I'm content. Though that is usually 10-15 mph over. But if there are no other cars around go the limit. Bored cops wont be as lenient with no one around.

Between 5 and 10 mph faster seems to be o.k. to most police (on the highway that is).

I always go 60 in the city and 95-110 MPH on the highway, bad gas milage? yes. But fast is worth it?

As fast as I want. Sometimes that is 10 over, sometimes it is 30 over. Usually keep it below 70mph on city streets, on the highway all bets are off.

P.S. I have been driving for 11 years now, never once got a ticket.

8-18over Its what every one else is doing and what the cops are up to. I also like to hydroplane on snow.

Keep in mind that car makers like to add about 2 to the speedometer so their product is not labeled as a cop favorite.
