"Marry" is better English. "Get" and "Got" are avoided by the intelligentsia.

Well... Strictly from a grammatical standpoint, "get married" is passive, while "marry" is active. Active verbs are preferred in most writing situations as they get right to the point. Don't know if this is what you were looking for!

I'm with Picador. They mean the same thing, just as "Dick and Jane are going to get divorced" and "Dick and Jane are going to divorce" mean the same thing. Although an official does marry couples, and dads marry off their daughters, those are separate uses for the same word.
