I've kept American toads, and fed them primarily crickets (some earthworms, some waxworms, but the wax worms are high in fat, so shouldn't be used regularly). If it's a firebellied toad, these will also eat crickets, but need to have them is a smaller size. A good way to judge how big an item should be for feeding them is to use the spece between their eyes as a guideline, and not get anything larger than that space. The food should be alive, since it's the motion that attracts them to their food.

We have fire belly toads that love crickets. They only eat what they see moving. We sometimes can get them to eat worms but they don't move very much so it can be difficult.

Pick up some nightcrawlers & try that.
It probably doesn't have to eat every day.
