Lust- purely physical attraction; they just like sex with you
Infatuation- they think they love you but haven't gotten to know you enough to really mean it
Love- will spend time with you even if you don't have sex because they simply enjoy the real you and ALL of you up to and including physical deformities, personality flaws, etc.

Love involves putting your needs and wants secondary to someone else's, displaying compassion and and cultivating empathy. Hopefully the object of your affection returns the favor. Lust and infatuation are strictly egotistical and self-serving mindsets with the only goal being one's own needs and satisfaction.

Love: you would know it if you loved someone. It hurts like hell sometimes, but then when you're near them or you see them somewhere, everything feels perfect. You want more than just a physical relationship with said person.

Lust: you may as well be a hooker, 'cause that's all your getting. Sex, sex, and more sex. Nothing meaningful, nothing personal or romantic. Just physical sex.

Infatuation: Like someone else said, you don't know the person well enough to call it love, and it's more like an obsession in a way.

Let's face it... at first sight, its going to be looks. We dont go into a crowded room and search out mr. or ms. average. Our eyes seek out the one that has all the physical attributes we (consciously or subconsiously) want and need to be happy.

This attraction is always going to be superficial... and for some... that will be enough... for a while. For most, we need something more than looks. We need something more substantial.

So for me, the difference between lust and love is... while your looks may attract me and make me want to ***** you.. its whats between the ears that will stimulate me and make me want to stick around for the long haul.

If you are with him and he doesn't look as good as his friend anymore but you still want to be with him it is probably love. If you have known him for a while and have feelings for him as opposed to just meeting him... it is probably love.

love : you feel it in your heart . . . which is an area roughly below the joinning of two sides of your ribs, you know you have it when you feel the bitter-sweet pull (can't describe it) when you're with someone you love

lust : you feel it in your brain, your crotch, your heart beat . . .
