Sleep routine - don't make me laugh !
Left to my own devices I gradually slip round till I'm going off to sleep at about 5 am then waking up again at around 2, that can get kind of awkward when you're trying to fit in a routine with kids and horses et al. Over the past few weeks ( summer holiday) I have watched the sun rise, slept an hour or 2, taken the girls to their work experience then gone back to sleep again. Working on it now, I finally stayed up and went without sleep to try to get it a bit more reasonable. It's awkward trying to do shopping when most places are about to close ! But on the other hand you do get a few bargains!!
Unfortunately it's a trait I share with my other half and all the kids so with school starting back today we're all feeling a bit urrrgh !

I have the same problem - I've always been a night-owl. Maybe it stems from the fact that I lived in cramped quarters as a kid, and so the night-time is the only time I get peace and quiet :-)

Also, I think I am i the wrong time zone. When I went to California it suited me just great!

I tend to think and work better at night... messes me up for the morning though as I have to do the school run!

Just like metabolism of food, the metabolism of sleep or rest can be as opposite the norm as is for you. It is set by your body that you perform best at some parts of the day cycle than at others. Perhaps it has to do with any of the characteristics common to that time, barometric pressure, geo-forces between moon, sun and earth or maybe you are just as many of us, as you say, nocturnal. There are many people who function best at this time of day, is why some cities truly do never sleep. Perhaps there is a greater percentage of the residents who prefer to be nocturnal.

Either way, if you have true insomnia, that goes untreated, it can lead to problems with metabolism and digestive disorders, not to mention damage to the psyche. Find some herbal supplements that let you relax during the time you do feel like sleeping, be it day or night, and get some rest.

I did this a while back and I've had no probs.

I recently lost my job and my body clock is all over the place. But it doesn't matter if I go to bed at a reasonable time or stay up on here 'til the sun is almost up I always wake up bang on 7:30

I think Sleep when your sleepy is a pretty good rule, but don't forget to go to the loo when you need to or it could get messy!

Ah. Well, if you've decided not to quit, here's a plan that works every time.

1: Stay up all night. Have no sleep at all
2: You must not sleep until you have been awake for about thirty-six hours.
3: If it doesn't work the first time, repeat as necessary.
If you want to know more, email me.

Lots of people work swing or graveyard shifts, and lots of younger people go to night school.
If you cannot sleep at night, you should look into those possibilities.

If that's not what you want to do, see a doctor about some sleep medication. Or, try Melatonin, an over-the-counter supplement for sleep--which even helps those who work rotating shifts--or suffer with jet lag. Cut down on caffeine, and try some lavender aromatherapy. :)

Do some night work, that will cure you. Chap I served with could not stay awake, bang on 23.00 GMT he went out like a light, bit of a sod on parade in Freemantle, got invalided out as mental, opened a builders business in Peckham, just in time to catch a V2 silly sod.

I used to be a helluva night-hawk - then sleep all day. As I've got older, I think my mind and body have started to conform and I sleep more or less regular (for me) hours. Good luck to you.

Way to go, you'll live forever that way. Seriously, your body knows what it needs more than society does.
