keeps calling me and asking me the same questions about my marketing plan and income. I sense he has a fear of failure and he is trying to use my success as a gauge as to whether or not he will succed or not. I told him "there is not magic bullet and he just needs to make as many contacts with potential clients as he can. It's a contact sport when it comes to marketing a service business"

This guy calls me every 3 months and asks the same questions over and over as if I can tell him some secret to success. I really want to tell this guy to stop calling me. Some folks will not "pull the trigger". They will talk and talk and talk and will never do anything to change there lives. Any advice on what to tell this guy?

By the way I think this guy is 50 y/o

Aim him in the direction of the local SBA or SCORE group, those are the people he should be talking to anyway. And suggest to him that he get a subscription to Entrepreneur Magazine and Inc. Magazine, both those are excellent.

This is very interesting, because age has nothing to do with confidence.

This guy that you are trying to help needs to develop good listening skills, because he is not believing your answers.

He is more busy trying to find out what makes you interesting to others, when the secret is really being interested in others more than yourself.

If this helps him reach that epiphany... Then, this answer has helped him through you. I hope he doesn't give up and succeeds without bugging you any longer, because old dogs can learn new tricks. I've witnessed this transformation many a time as I am a business mentor for Network Marketing.

Now, that's a contact sport, and that is precisely the reason why most people fail at owning their own business, regardless of the type of business it is.
