Um, a better way to ask this question would have been, "Is it normal for so many people to enjoy indulging in pot on the weekends?" The age and sex of pot users varies but it is unamimous that it is enjoyed by over 75 million Americans. Youre 28 or older male that you are eferring to falls into this category.

To understand this better, you need to know that emotional growth stops (becomes stunted) at the age of the onset of addiction. He's basically still 13, for all intents and purposes. He's also likely self-medicating for an underlying mental health issue, which he's probably completely unaware that he has. In cases where an addict is self-medicating, the mental health issue (be it depression, anxiety, or something else) usually precedes the onset of addiction by approximately five years. Since he became addicted, his brain chemistry has changed. He can't feel any sense of "happiness" without using the drug. He uses just to feel normal again. Without it, he's depressed, lethargic, irritable, and pessimistic. He's physically and psychologically addicted, and his behavior is going to revolve around getting the drug and using it. He's going to be in denial about the impact that the drug is having on his life. He's likely to suffer not only relationship problems, but job related problems, problems with the law, self-esteem issues, health issues, and financial problems. Yet until the denial is broken, he won't see the forest for the trees. I hope he gets himself into treatment for his addiction, and a mental health evaluation as well. With treatment, the underlying cause of the addiction (as well as the addiction itself) can finally be addressed. And when both are treated, there is a good chance for recovery. He may appear to "not care" about his loved ones, but that's what addiction does...it masks things. He probably does care, and cares deeply. He probably also feels shame. But the drug numbs him, and provides relief from these feelings, which provides the fuel to keep the addiction going. He needs help. You can't change him, but you can help him come to terms (and break through the denial) by not enabling his addiction. Addicts are usually the last ones to realize that they need help, and the last ones to reach out for it. It's a sad fact that it often takes a major setback to cut through the addict's unconscious denial. It's that strong.

Sure.Why not?
As long as he can keep all his other ducks in a row.
How's it any different from drinking?
Oh yeah...drinking can lead to alcoholism.
I don't smoke pot anymore, but I still don't understand the stigma attached to it.I've never heard of anyone smoking pot and then beating their wife,or smoking pot and shooting anybody.
Drinking...that's a different story. And it's LEGAL! You hear about WAY more DWI's than you do people getting busted for driving while high on pot.Who would YOU rather ride with?
And for all those that comment about the difficulty of keeping a job because of drug tests...with the exception of brain surgeons or airline pilots, most of the jobs that test for drugs are jobs that suck anyways.I always laugh when I see the sign in front of Home Depot or McDonalds that say "We test.If you use drugs don't bother applying here!".HAHAHA! Don't worry! I won't! I have a REAL job!
Also, anyone that's addicted to really hard drugs isn't going bother appyting for a job ANYWHERE! Most of them can't make it to work anyways. They either sell drugs to other addicts,or resort to theft (or other means) to support their habits.Drug testing mostly screens out pot-smokers,and that's kind of dumb because the majority of weed-freaks aren't any different than anyone else.Except for the ones who wear tie-dye and long hair. They need to quit advertising.Keeping that kind of appearance only draws attention.

Depends on what your definition of normal is. I know grown men over 28 that do smoke the occasional joint on weekends for fun. If they do it, you can't really stop them. Your best bet is to makes sure it's kept in moderation and don't let it take over there lives.

"Normal", no. Most are concerned with their careers and what not. Though if he doesn't have much of a career, he may be more likely.
I think its more widely used than most of us think. Mostly because men don't generally go around bragging about the blunt the smoked last night like teenagers do.

Not if he is really a man. Sounds like he's just a boy pretending to be a man.
Stay away from guys like this... the weekend becomes Friday and the weekend, the Thursday and so on. If they guy can't quit doppin' up is that where you want to be in a relationship.
Pretty soon the ol pecker won't even work right and he's smoke more dope to forget about that.

THere is no such thing as normal. I know a lot of people who smoke weed, and as long as he just does it on the weekends and it doesnt interfere with his daily life activities and work then it should be fine. In my opinion alcohol is a lot worse then mary j.

It's fine. As long as they are not stoned all the time, I don't see a problem with it. I see it as like having a beer or a glass of wine after work or a few beers on the weekend.
