I'll presume you mean 'intangible'

Plato felt visible objects were imperfect copys of the celestial forms (aka intangible objects)

Just one of the many beliefs that make him an idiot.

(he also thinks philosophers should rule)

To him it is the difference between reality and illusion, or, more accurately, shadow. Reality consists in the forms behind appearance. The world of appearance fluctuates too much to give us any "real" knowledge. Real knowledge comes through exercising reason and the intellect to discover the eternal truths behind appearances. Since those unable to use reason (all non-philosophers Plato thought) will never be able to arrive at the truth, it is necessary that philosophers rule. His metaphysics really provided the groundwork for his politics.
