multiply up

3x + 2y = 6*7 = 42
2y = 42 -3x

9x - 4y =36 = 9x - 2(42 - 3x) = 9x -84 + 6x = 15x - 84

15x = 120

x = 8

y = 9

1. Multiply the top equation by 6, then multiply the bottom equation by 36.
***3x + 2y = 42
***9x + 4y = 36
2. Solve the top equation for Y.
3. Substitute new equation (solved for Y) into bottom equation. (X should come out to be -16).
4. Substitute the answer for X into one of the ORIGINAL EQUATIONS. (Y should, eventually, come out to be 45).
5. Plug both values back in and check both equations.
