So-called abortion is simply a soft-soap way of referring to what is by any standard in vitro infanticide. Infanticide is infanticide and I fail to see any difference in terms of the impact of the infant whether it is liquidated in vitro or ex vitro. The fetus is undeniably a human fetus and now that we know it is genetically unique from the moment of conception there should be no further issue as to whether or not it is an individual. If it is human and genetically individuated,it is obviously a human being. It may not look much like one,but we were all early-term fetuses once upon a time and here we are today. As to circumstances where is should be permitted on humane grounds,I would cite: inability of mother to survive childbirth; rape involving victims under 16; indications of severe deformation via ultrasound.

I am against abortion unless the child was conceived by rape or incest. Women now a days have choices other then an abortion. They can use condoms, diaphragm, spermicide, birth control or they can be abstinent. If they get pregnant and they don't want to have the baby then they can give it up for adoption. There are no excuses. They can use any or all of the things I mentioned above to avoid a unwanted pregnancy.

I know you will not choose me for best answer, but I became accidentally pregnant while on birth control and on drugs for depression and panic attacks. Since klonopin (for panic attacks) can hurt the fetus in the first trimster I opted for an abortion, even though my doctor thought I should take a risk. I thought it would be better to spare a child birth defects than risk not knowing what would happen. And believe me, abortion is not something anyone wants to go through, it pained me to death and left me zombied out for 2 days.

Abortion should only be legal if the baby's obviously going to be very retarded or grossly malformed, or the baby is an issue from incest or rape, or if the mother's life is in danger (from an ectopic pregnancy, for example). If the baby inconveniences, this is when it's time to move forward with adoption plans.
Otherwise, abortion is wrong. Plain and simple. It doesn't have to be an overly long-winded religious issue, just a straightforward, logical human issue.

If your against abortion, don't have one. I do not believe old, gray, wealthy male politicians who will never experience pregnancy or know the fear of 'How will I support my baby?' should be making laws about what a woman can or cannot do with her body. This also posts a strong argument for sex education in public schools since today's parents are either unwilling or unable to shoulder the responsibility.

Once upon a time when I was a little know it all I was strictly against abortions. But now, as a grown woman, two of my closest friends have had terminations, and my views are a lot more sympathetic towards it. I still don't agree with them, but I'm not as strongly against them as I was. All I can say is this, I've never had one, and I'm 99.9 percent sure that I never will.

100% for the woman having a choice
You say it should only be legal in rape cases.
What about when the baby has been proven to have no chance of a meaningful life after birth.
What about where it is dangerous to the mothers health to carry to term.
What about where the mother is mentally incapable of going through a pregnancy.

I agree partly with your friend, and I am pro choice. I am not in favor of abortion, but I believe that it is a choice that all women should be able to have, and that it's not up to me, or you, for that matter, what a woman does with her body, whether the part she is deciden whether or not to abort is alive or not.

I agree with you, that fetus developes into a baby and a human life. If people dont want kids there is plenty of birth control out there. Be responsible.
