I have to agree with Sloan on this one. With a few exceptions, solid rock and roll music died out by the 1980's. Replaced with rap and grunge during the 90's and now, yawn, corporate whiners. Hopefully garage bands will help make a turn around, but not unless they get the ear of corporate music moguls to get airplay.

well thers a problem with this question cause...
all the good rock bands are old!
most of the crap now is just horrible..because really, everything the bands try do now, the classic bands did first and they did it so much better
im prepared for the thumbs-down, but hey, everyones entitled to their own opinion

Wow, good rock bands?
there's loads.

old bands are better than the new ones, but there are plenty of good new rock bands.
Linkin Park, Mindless Self Indulgence, although MSI are more techo-punkish; The White Stripes, Smashing Pumpkins recently got back together (yay!); The Used are good, and UnderOath is great, one of my favorites; Queen is and older band, but they're still fantastic... Nirvana rocks, even though Kurt's been dead thirteen years :'(
um.... My Chemical Romance is actually really good, even though loads of people hate them, I think they're really talented. and great in concert, I've seen them twice :)
Avenged Sevenfold is really talented, too. the drummer is CRAZY, and Pinkly Smooth is really good, too. Synyster Gates and The Rev's side project (they're from Avenged Sevenfold).
ummm... Aiden is really good, I like them, and Paramore is great, and Sum 41 is amazing. there's loads more... Ozzy's pretty crazy, too, it's pretty awesome. and Metallica. and umm.... loads. there's plenty of good bands if you go to MySpace music and go under the rock genre. BUT NOT AVRIL LAVIGNE, FORGET HER, SHE SUCKS.
