No eating out, don't stop at a convenience store, and don't even think about buying snacks at the movie theatre.

Cut back on unnessary phone and cable/satellite services for starters. Group all your errands together to save gas. Use food coupons. Cook more for yourself(healthier, too). wait 'till you have a large load of laundry. hang on a clothesline. Share 5-day movie rentals with a friend. or watch them together. Blow dry your hair in front of a fan. Don't mean to be sassy, but I lived on $136 a month foodstamps when I was unemployed once, and I know you must be smart enough to know where you can cut back. I still went dancing, etc. Went before cover charge and bought the Nickel beers during the Special 'till 10pM. Get cheaper car insurance. smaller, less expensive apartment/home. Do without one purchase every day, like a coffee, and put it in savings. Not in a piggy bank where you can take it out again. Drink less. Quit smoking.

Don't use credit cards unless you pay them off each month and have the discipline to do that. Don't buy adult toys and gadgets. Save for major purchases and don't buy things on credit except your education and your home..Drive good used cars. Live strictly on a budget. Cook from scratch! if you dont cook, learn to. Don't eat out except for very special occasions. Carry a lunch from home. Don't buy clothes just because they are on sale. Plan your clothes purchases carefully. Never shop when you are hungry and never without a list and don't buy things not on your list. IF you are already in debt, get out of debt by paying off the highest interest first, then applying that paymeht to the next highest interest, and so on. Save 10% of your take-home pay, and put it in a account that is not easy to get at. Turn off lights and unplug appliances and media items when not in use. Close the doors and heat ducts or heating units to rooms you are not in very much. Keep the thermostat at 68 degress F in the winter and 78 degress in the summer. Use fans if the temperature outside is less than 90 degrees and turn off the AC. Use full loads of wash, dry your clothes on the line if you can. If you smoke, quit, besides being expensive and it kills you and your lungs it stinks and doesn't make you popular except with other smokers. Drink tap water, get a purifier if you have to. Bottled water is tap water in bottles.

I always save the change from a dollar and store it. When I get broke at the end of the week I dont run to the ATM I use the change. I dont eat out or buy bottle water. Clipping coupons from the sunday paper is a big help, and search the internet for free samples of your favorite products. They love to mail those samples.

Never eat out -- always cook your own food.
Shop carefully -- check out prices in different places until you find deals.
Never buy anything extravagant -- if you can do without it -- don't buy it.
Live close to work -- walk to work -- (save gas money)
If you can do without a car -- more money saved on car payments and insurance....and repairs
Share apartment with someone when or if possible.
Use electricity carefully to cut down on that bill.
If you have cell phone -- get rid of landline -- one more bill to pay saved,
Don't get cable or cable internet (if you have other access to internet) --- they make a huge bill.
Keep money in savings account so money just doesn't sit without earning for itself...

People who want to seriously save for a major purchase . . .
Search for the least expensive housing (but clean with hot and cold running water / no vermin or bugs) .
Cook their own food a Lot because you pay about 5
X what ingredients cost for prepared foods .
Use a high mileage 'beater' car . . .
And settle for like basic cable instead of the full HBO packages .

Everytime you get paid..pay yourself a certain amount of money...and keep it in a savings account...use the rest for bills, and other things you need.
But always pay yourself first..and be persistant about it..by the end of the year..you will be happy that you were saving responsibly.
