Depression causes people to hate for no reason at times and I think that was part of the hatred towards her mother.

Wow. I didn't know she did. In "Letters Home", there are nearly 1000 letters to her mother spanning many years where she shared many personal triumphs & tragedies. Hmm. Maybe you're refering to her adolescence?

her mother abused her in very severe ways, including sexually and very violently. read the book.
