2 + 5 1/4?
It's a fraction but I can't remember how to solve it.
two plus 5 and one fourths??

2 + 5¼ = 2 + 5 + ¼ = 7¼

Once you realize that 2 + 5 1/4 is the same as 2 + 5 + 1/4, it becomes easy to see the answer is 7 1/4.

first combine 5 1/4 into an improper fraction and you get 21/4 . Now convert 2 into fourths and you get 8/4, So now you have 8/4 + 21/4 = 29/4 or 7 1/4

2 = 8/4

5 1/4 = 5 + 1/4 = 20/4 + 1/4 = 21/4

2 + 5 1/4 = 8/4 + 21/4 = 29/4 and thats as simple as it gets. in decimal form it will be 7.25

put both numbers into fractions with common denomenators.
first 5 1/4= 21/4
then 2= 8/4
so...
21/4 + 8/4= 29/4

you add the whole numbers together and then add the decimals.
2+5+7
7+1/4= 71/4
