(m^2-1)/(2-m-m^2)
= (m+1)(m-1)/[(2+m)(1-m)]
= -(m+1)/(m+2)

(m+1)(m-1)

You have to FOIL (First, Outside, Inside, Last) those to get (m^2) -1.
