I am writing a paper on success. Please tell me how you would define success, and give me a name of someone who made a success of his life. I would prefer them to be chrisian stories, but any will do. Just a story about how disbite his humble beginnings, he has made a success of his life, and what his defination of success is. Thanks in advance.

i answered one of your other questions on this as well.
It would be hard to define exactly what you are looking for.
I mean you can say Bill Gates is successful, or George Bush. Clearly they have reached the top of the mountains they were climbing.
It all matters on what is important to the person you are rating.
Some successes maybe monetary, some may be based on levels of happiness. Some maybe based on their careers and where they went, some maybe based family.
For me it is my family. I am successful in the work place and other projects that I undertake, but when you know you are loved by the ones you love, that is all the success you can hope for.

Why not select someone you know personally that you admire for some quality or another? Could be male or female. You might identify what you admire about this person--this is their success. Then you might interview this person and see how they learned/achieved this success.
Say your grandmother is a wonderful cook and she learned these skills from a relative who grew up during the Depression. Thus she learned how to make do with very little, but still make meals healthy and appealing for her family.
Say you have a neighbor who plays a musical instrument well enough to play in a band. How did he learn to play? Does he play professionally or for his own enjoyment? Does he teach others?
Successes can be grand things or simple things. Learning to appreciate and learn from both will enrich your essay.

I define success as improving yourself. Where I go to School at we have something call the Eagle Covenant. And I never ever rest until I have done my very best.

I would use Lincoln as the greatest example of someone rising from absolute poverty and isolation in a small frontier commnity to become the greatest President our nation has seen.

He was a remarkable, remarkable man.

His mind was like a crystal laser beam of reasoning and yet no man had more compassion for others. He dealt with things with humor and humanity. When G.W. Bush refused to meet with the American Mom who lost her son in Iraq? All I could think was all the hundreds of Americans that Lincoln personally met with in his White House office during the war years. He held regular office hours when ordinary citizens could ask for an appointment and he helped many, many peole who were despaerate for answers from their federal government.

If you read his early writing he was very, very concerned about leaving a mark on the world and as late as 1856, when he lost the bid to become US Senator from Illinois, he considered himself a failure. When he won the war and ended slavery in the US, he had only days to rejoice before being shot on Good Friday, 1865. He died the next morning in a house across the street from Ford's Theater in DC.

Now the subject of "Christian" life: he never joined any church, though he did attend somewhat regularly with his wife. He was reluctant to sign on with the dogma of organized churches, though clearly believed in God and knew the Bible backwards and forwards.

He once wrote that if he could find a church that had as its only creed that one love God with all his heart and all his mind and all his soul, and love his neighbor as himself, that church he would join immediately. (he was quoting scripture in his statement, but i am paraphrasing!)

Jesus~
He created mankind and no one believed he was good. They beat him and whipped him in front of a huge crown laughing. He still lived and died for our sins so we can have eternal life. Hope this helped!
