This question was brought on by the answer to another question I posted about bisexuality.
Do you think for most of today's youth, that bisexuality is really about the ability to be monogamous and still feel attraction to both sexes, or is more about sexual experimentation, and a way to get laid at a bar, club, spring break, ect..? What I mean is like girls who say they are "bi" at spring break and kiss other girls on the dance floor to get their boyfriends turned on, because in reality they are so insecure of their boyfriend leaving them for something or someone else that she has to go to extremes to keep him, because in the end, with young people it all revolves around lust and sex, and not to emotional, psychological, or any other type of attraction to the same sex, the opposite sex, or both sexes. It's just about the sex in general.
So, do you think young people use the "bi" label to rationalize their promiscuity or use it as an excuse to be promiscuous?

No.

Maybe for some. But it is a huge generalisation to say ALL young people call themselves bi to justify promiscuity. Some do it for that, some females do it to attract men. I hate these people.

I'm 18, and I'm bi. I'm not promiscious. I'm more attracted towards women, but I have a boyfriend. He understands this though. And no I do not base our relationship on sex. For a start its a long distance relationship, and I know I have stayed monogomous for the 2 years we've been together so far. I am attracted to him in more ways than physically. But I am still more attracted to women. Not just physically. If it wasn't for my boyfriend, I might be in a serious relationship with a woman.

So, please, don't generalise. The people that say they are bi for the reasons you stated just give the rest of us a bad name. True young bisexuals do exist. We just don't shout to the world about it and go and snog whoever.

Sorry if I've gone on a bit. This issue just really gets to me =)

No because not all people who are "bi" are promiscuous.

Girls on spring break act like whores and kiss each other because they want male approval, because men like to watch.

In today's society, teenaged girls are sent the message that "lesbians are cool" so that is why, I belive they act bisexual. They are really attracted to males, but to get the attention they want, they make out with girls and whatnot.

I betcha that if media directed towards teens starts to show young men thinking "bunny ears are hot" you would see more teenaged girls wearing bunny ears.

The girsl who kiss and do other things with girls to turn guys on, are not bi. They are just experimental/sluts/open minded. Real bisexuality means you are open to the possibility of having a real relationship with a male or female. That is my opinion on it though.

a little of both, my 15 yr old tells me some stories regarding boys and girls at school being bi, or gay and its so open these days, l cannot remember any one at my school being open about this, where as now days its out there which l think is a good thing, but l also think because its so open they tend to experiment more and kids are doing a lot more a lot younger

Yes, absolutely. The gay-happy media has created a monster. Kids these days evidently see the whole bisexual "craze" as being the hip, "trendy" way to be ultra-popular with EVERYONE! Sex has been reduced to fun-and-games with ALL your pals, and kids are more than willing to jump onto that bandwagon. But for all their justifications, it really IS no more than just an excuse to be promiscuous.
And it's disgusting!

No - I think the prefix "bi" is used by young people who are indecisive or who, themselves, can't come to terms (be it from self-pressure or outside pressure) to admit their homosexuality. Or some may just be sexually experimenting.

Given the extraordinarily rude email I received this morning from a "fellow" answerer, filled with absolute bile, hatred and unnecessarily personal insults, I feel it necessary to point out that this is a personal opinion only, as are most answers given on this site.

some yes. I think that it is a fad for some. if you ask them 20 years down the road they will deny it. Some are truly bi and some will say "bi" for awhile then come out as gay, because for some "bi" is more acceptable then gay and it leaves, so-called, hope open for unaccepting family and friends.

when you are gay, you know. you either like A or B. if you are in a little bit of a confusion, you use the bi to experiment, but alot of people use it as an excuse to get laid. sometimes if you have trouble with the opposite sex you say you are bi and it gets you something regardless if you like or not. when you are gay. you are gay. i myself dont believe in bisexuality.

Yes, I think the label of bisexuality is misused by straight or gay people wanting to be cool, etc.

Bisexuality is real, and I hate that it is misused more then homosexuality by people as a choice. Normally I'd say do what you want, but this irks me.
