I graduated high school 19 years ago, back then we used to hear alot about 'things' that made their way into our 'permanent record' but no one really knew exactly what the contents of this record was. Is there is a standard set of documents which comprise a person's permanent record from school? What could be in there? I can't imagine every minute quiz, exam, homework etc grades would be in there, the file would get too big. And back then, it was a paper file not electronic. Can I ask my district to let me view the contents of this record? Does it still exist this far after graduation or do they purge them after a while? I'm very curious...

Could you make a request under thefreedom of information act ? It seems there may need to be documentation of your date of birth and what dates your promoted to each grades.

Are you afraid they may have written they suspected you of only reading cliff notes and still turning in abook report on "Moby Dick" by Herman Melville ?

If you spent 3 years in the 3rd grade well that should be noted.
