That is why they say you should never leave it in their hands to pick out a wedding ring. -They will fowl up. (Big time)
The guy is suppose to take your best bud or your mother to pick out a wedding ring for you because they know what you like.

I do not believe that it has to be Jennifer Lopez expensive, but a nice two ct. diamond ring from Tiffany's would be just fine.

But if you are happy with what he chose for you, that is all that matters. Any women on here who says it doesn't matter, they are not telling the truth. Every woman wants to feel special and wants that Cinderella wedding fairy tale.
When it comes down to it, they will not settle for less.
The ones that are married, ask them to attach an honest picture with their wedding ring on it. I bet their rings are pretty nice.
Who really wants that thought in the back of their mind that tells them they have been cheated out of this?
"The moment they have been waiting for since they were little girls playing dress up."
I would say, if you are not satisfied. You can upgrade.

-Good luck!

The past “rule” was to spend two months’ salary. But that isn’t possible for many people. Remember: the engagement ring is a symbol of his love for you, and whether that is a simple ring that costs $100 or a five carat diamond set in platinum that sets you back $60,000, the meaning is the same. Bottom line, the amount one should spend on the engagement ring is up to them. And they should also want the person receiving the ring to love it, show it off to her friends, and possibly even pass it down as an heirloom for future generations. Don't forget that you can always upgrade in the future! MBA-Ms.BadAss's ring was $8,000 and I plan to have it upgraded to a $20,000 setting for my 5th wedding anniversary!

I would rather have his genuine heart rather than some crummy ring. You wouldn't want the guy to pick up 4 extra part-time jobs to get you an expensive ring right? Besides, along the road of love, he will get you a well deserved upgrade. Good luck!!!

This is a sign of a cheap bastard! Dump him now!
Yes the ring is a commitment however it is also a commitment for a life time and the ring bearing that commitment should be of good quality.
The ring may also be indicative that this guy is cheap now, and will be forever. If you buy, buy good quality to those things which are suppose to be important. If he can't afford it, wait to wed as a relationship without a sound financial foundation is destined for hardship in today's time.

first thing that came across my mind is "expensive ring". but honestly, when I look back, those things really doesn't matter. Basically they are just rocks and gold and won't sustain a marriage once the going gets tough. its great and exciting when you have a 1karat J color platinum engagement ring on your finger. something to show to the girls but after some time the magic wears of and you are left with the reality.

Oh, my gosh! If your fiance bought you a ring on ebay, it is because he thought he was getting the most for his money and he wanted to get the best thing he could afford! If it was a ring made from a paper clip, it would be precious because you and he are going to spend your lives together! If it matters to you on your 20th anniversary (I doubt that it will, but if it does), ask for an upgrade.

it depends on the person. It sounds like you are are very young and he has no money to buy you a decent one.

yea, i would want an expensive ring or a nice one that doesn't brake his bank. if you both of you are going to be life partners, will be together for better, for worse, richer or poorer he can ask his parents to help him and pay them back and it also shows how much he loves you by spending the time to look for your ring. if he is an adult and bought it off ebay,i sugges you look for another fiance.

If it is important to you to have a ring of higher value, that is okay. If the value of the ring is not important to you, that's okay too. What is important is that you are honest with your fiance. If you LOVE the ring it doesn't matter whether he paid $100 or $100,000!! If you want something that has a higher value, let him know that too (don't just accept it and end up resenting it). For me, my (now) husband wanted me to get a very elaborate wedding band with diamonds. But what I wanted was a ring to match his, and his had to be plain because of the nature of his work. I think that the saleswoman thought I was nuts to refuse the $1000 wedding band he wanted me to have, but I have been married for 9 years now, and neither of us is ever without our plain gold wedding bands!

When we bought our rings, we didn't have very much money and our entire set was under $300.00. We have been married for 14 and 1/2 years. Money and rings don't matter, although they are nice. Love matters, love will hold you through everything. You like it, he bought it for you, than keep it, he can always buy another one later on in life.

I would love a have a ring from my man that he wants me to have; If he gave it to me and gave it from his heart, it don't matter what it costs..It would be worth millions to me if I knew he loved me..and there is nothing wrong with cubic zirconia, it is beautiful....Just step back and think about it. Sounds like he loves you and he loves you ALOT. Now if you are more materialistic and demand expensive things, you might not be the guy for you...Good luck to ya and I hope this ring holds something special for you...
