I have just aquired custody of a two year old cow. He's possibly the most precious thing i've ever seen in my lifetime, but I have no idea how to take care of a cow. I own a horse, and for now I can always take care of it the way I would my horse (as far as grooming) but any extra tips about care would be fabulous.

Every county in the US has an office of the cooperative extension service (agriculture dept). 4-H is out of there so that my help you find it in the phone book and they will have a TON of info FREE and may even be able to send a agent to show you stuff (all for free).
Remember cows are open plains animals so keep the ventilation good, keep his diet heavally forage based.

Call your local cooperative extension service. Each county usually has one. They can give you lots of good info.

The cow should have a fresh grass pasture or hay. You shouldn't have to worry about it right now, but in the spring no fresh clover, it will give the cow bloat.

Buy some grain feed for cattle from your local feed store to supplement the grass/hay.

Make sure you have a good fence. Cows are good at getting out of weak fencing.
