Have you checked your water pump? The plastic impeller could've broken off and your water isn't circulating in the system.

Worse, if the plastic impeller has broken bits in the cooling system, it could obstruct the water passages in the engine block.

If you think it might be an air lock, there's a plastic bleeder screw on top to the radiator, next to the fill cap. Undo that with the engine running until antifreeze starts oozing out.

Good luck!

just torch it and with the insurance buy something decent like a Perodua or a second hand Lada ( only joking )
It does sound like an airlock, if it were the water pump then it would tend to overheat at around the same sort of distance all the time
Drain the entire coolant system and start again,
Also there should be a few bleed screws on the pipes themselves
get it running ( with your heater on FULL power and heat ) and then undo these one by one ( any sequence you want but probably better off starting from the lowest point working upwards ) until fluid runs without bubbles
Most importantly DONT drive it until you have this problem sorted, you really dont want to warp the head or blow out a core plug ( major headache )

Are the top and bottom hoses only hard when its hot As i feel grabbing thems a bad idea We all know the heater is the first thing to go cold when its going to overheat which is lack of water so its using it or losing it.Using it head gasket losing it anywhere incl head gasket Air lock fifty miles doubt it
No stat ? check it in boiling water if it opens whats the difference G
