I dont get what they want me to do for this question?

Theres a picture and under the picture it says Will a normal fault result from the stresses being applied to the rock unit in diagram D? Explain.

I am not a geological expert, and I have no idea what a NORMAL fault is, but this question sounds like it is part of an engineering course of study. READ the text and then study examples of rock stress to answer your question.
