no, i dont agree

I disagree - totally. When I am nervous, anxious or worried, if I stop for just a couple of minutes and use these tactics I calm right down. This is especially helpful when worried about a test before you take it; when you don't know where somebody (kids or parents) are and when you did something wrong. It enables you to calm down and concentrate on the problem. You will get a better score on a test if you aren't nervous about it; you'll know someone will appear soon and you can think of how you are going to explain why you didn't think about what you were doing that was wrong. Just try it and you will see you are more affective after taking those few minutes just for yourself. You don't have to meditate an hour!

I worked for Weiser Books, the publisher of "Creative Visualization" and "Art and Practice of Getting Material Things Through Creative Visualization," both by the spiritualist Ophiel way back in the 1970s -- really the 1st books on the topic, and still in print, though Ophiel died in 1988 at the age of 84.

Ophiel was one of the worst train-wrecks of humanity I'd ever met up to that time, barely surviving on the puny royalties from his eight books plus whatever pittance he made as a "spiritual advisor" and "lecturer."

I laugh that a bestseller like "The Secret" is still selling the same sorry scam, and with Oprah's help! (Oprah? Ophiel? Related, maybe?)

Meditation is another matter. While there are scammers who sell meditation as if its the magic key to wealth, health and happiness (Ophiel was in that crowd as well), it is a worthwhile tool, a means to cultivate a peaceful inner being.

Nothing truly "spiritual" has ever been fostered by greed for gain.

Depends on what you are visualizing or Meditating about.... if you use it in a positive manner... then no,,,,, visualize making more money, going places and doing things because you have financial freedom helps you to set goals and be successful!!! you should try it. it will only work if you open your mind and stop being negative.!!

I agree about visualizing, but meditation is a good relaxation technique that can help to reduce stress.

I agree, If both are done correctly with a goal in mind, visualization keeps you focus. Meditation, keeps you centered and calm.

No I don't agree... Meditation is the one thing that helps me stay on an even keel from day to day. The way I see it, more people could stand to use a bit of relaxation.

If I could get paid to visualize myself at work, then no. But just sitting there, playing make-pretend I'm some where calming - big waste of time. Go somewhere calming, don't pretend to be there.

Absolutely not. I meditate on a regular basis. It calms me, and anything that can do that without drugs is cool as far as I'm concerned.

No it's not waste of time. It's so call listening the voice inside of you. That why people think it's waste of time. Which glass you see half empty (Negative) or half full (Positive)?
