Have you tried using Mozilla Firefox?
I don't get hardly any pop-ups, especially not for adult websites when using Mozilla. In fact, I have to tell it to allow pop-ups from game sites, etc. because it works so well.
There are probably other web browsers you can use. Look around, see what works for you.

No computer OS is 100% secure, and safe from infection or other malware. If you wish to go to these sites or actually any site, you should consider a anti-virus, anti-spyware, firewall, etc, software suite or use seperate programs for each.
If you feel comfortable going to these sites and they provide you wish something, then by all means go! It is your life after all and it is not up to anyone here to judge you or your habits. Just protect yourself with the proper software and hardware resources available.

It happened to me last week. A virus attacked my pc. What I did was I ran a virus scan in my pc. It did get the viruses, but then found out that there were still some left so I had to do a Scan disk in my machine.

Long as you use windows, you can't get rid of Internet Explorer. Just make Firefox your default browser and ignore IE.

If you get them while visiting any normal site, Yahoo, Google etc..., then there is a problem, however if they popup because you visit a site that features popups, then it is completely normal
