People who choose to say that they accept both Free Will and Determinism are called "Compatibilists". They hold the position that both determinism and free will could be possible at the same time, they don't necessarily believe in both, but they claim that the two are not mutually exclusive.
The short answer for how this is possible....They cheat. Compatibilists define "Free Will" and/or "Determinism" in a slightly different way that allows them to simultaneously hold both positions. The fact is, Determinism does preclude the possibility of free will, end of story. But as to how some people accept both...
The most famous response is to define free will not as a completely free choice or "uncaused cause" but rather to just define free choices as those made without coercion. If you don't have a gun to your head, you are exercising your free will, say the compatibilists.

I think it's because although determinism may imply no free will, it doesn't MEAN it.
There is always free will, even if a person believes in destiny, an easier word than the one you're using, but one I take to mean the same thing. Do you? Hope so!
Free will gives one choices at all roads and moments in life... even and especially the will to live in-the-moment, even believing in destiny. This presence of mind Proves free will... ones awareness heightens and one can see that even breathing is free will... nearly. Powerful and powerless... it sounds like gobbledygook, but it's not. It's just being in-the-moment.

Because even if all choices lead to the same destination the ego still wants to believe it is in charge.

astrology is so real i picked four peoples sign once correctly. right after i met them.and have never read a book on the subject,. just observed people for many years.I found out that palmistry is totally real also.every single line means something.people have pulled there hand back amazed that i knew something about there past.in such detail. but that doesn't mean i am now to sit in a chair for the rest of my life.life is to be lived. just because it is written doesn't mean i am not going to get all i want and still have my Faith.in the bible in Job there's a verse that says that God Placed a seal on the hand of man so that all men may know his work. The spirit of God leads my life and directs me.God can change anything for me.i love my God and God loves me and helps me quite a bit.and so what something is on my hand.are yours. we do have free will.
Peace

There is a balance. There is not 100% free will, nor 100% determinism.
