I hate saying no to people--regardless of the reason. Why can't I? Anyone else a pushover, too? How do i become more confident about saying no?

Lots of people have that problem. We don't want to hurt someones feelings, or look as if we can't handle something.
Other people feel that by saying "no" they are in some way doing something "bad" or wrong. This is not the case, but it can still be tough to do. But just like anything else, it takes practice. Start with saying "no" to things that are relatively small, something not life altering. Then, when you feel tempted to give in and say "yes", think:
"How is this going to benefit me? How will this hurt/be to my disadvantage? Is it worth my agreeing to it?"
Sometimes we have to learn how to be a little selfish once in a while. Just practice, and know that if a person is truly your friend that they will still care about you. It's alright to say "no".

This is going to sound silly, but just try it. Look at yourself in the mirror & practice saying no. Really saying NO! And if you feel like you need to be more polite...just say "No, thank you!" :)

My ex gf faced the same thing. We figured out it was because her mom was vietnamese, and in their culture it was rude to say no, you had to say things like "maybe tomorrow." So my ex only picked up on the avoiding of saying no, and still has problems saying it. Could there be any cultural things that are affecting you?

because you are afraid, when you get to the point of not caring about what people would say, you would be liberated...
