NO crime should be considered a "hate crime". Think about it.... If a black man knocked the crap out of you and stole your wallet, would you really be concerned with the fact that he's black? Do you think justice would be served any greater by his being convicted of being a black man who assaulted and robbed you as opposed to being a PERSON who assaulted and robbed you?
I get your point... Although I'm not familiar enough with the Jena case to give an opinion. (I've heard/read that the white kids were the first to physically assault, and I've heard/read that the black kids were the first. I don't know. I have to look into it more.) But I'm just making the point that, in my opinion, considering a criminal act to be a "hate crime", regardless of the races involved, is absolutely ridiculous.

Justin barker had nothing to do with any of the other stories here. he had nothing to do with the nooses.
he was attacked by a gang! there were several witnesses.
if you are not from Jena, Louisiana you are only getting one version. what the media is giving you is bullshiot.
the six boys will be prosecuted for this crime. deal with it.

I'm sorry all you white ppl feel that way. Is the possible 80 year prison sentence for the 6 black kids not enough for you? Did the white kids have a justifiable right to harass black kids based on their race, and hang nooses from a tree on school campus? Stop asking stupid questions, dick.
A little FYI: A group of white kids jumped 1 black kid when he walked into a party, and ONE of the white kids only got probation. A white kid pulled a gun on a black kid, & when the black kid took the gun away, HE got arrested. A fight broke out between the 6 black kids and the white kid, he wasn't jumped. One of the black kids has already been convicted of "attempted murder". All these events took place in Jena, statistically one of the most racist towns towards blacks in America
You better know all the facts before you start with your racist conspiracy theories.

A hate crime is when a perpetrator targets a victim because of his or her or race. This kid got his @ss whipped for loudly bragging to friends in the school hallway that this black kid had been whipped by a white man.

Um....because the perpetrators are black. Blacks don't get charged with hate crimes.....even when they act like P*SSY COWARDS and JUMP PEOPLE rather than fight like men. Yes....JUMPING PEOPLE LIKE A P*SSY COWARD warrants exactly the charges they received.....despite what victim mentality "We're special" bigots would like to believe. I guess they also come from an environment that encourages cowardice rather than manliness. I'm sure they think the COWARD GHETTO TRASH that tortured and killed Channon and Christopher are victims too....of course they are! They are black! They don't deserve to pay for their actions like the rest of us. That would just be.....fair...? For the record.....the kid had a history of being a VIOLENT PUNK...so perhaps you should SERIOUSLY consider he was being an asshole before the kids hung the noose....and that HIS OWN CRIMINAL HISTORY led to his sentence? Just a thought...I know, I know, it's a rational thought and all....and we shouldn't interject rational thought into these matters.....
I'm not sure what the hell the chic above is smoking for her to actual type that the white kids did the same thing.....and how do you know the black kids weren't harassing the white kids when they put the noose up? You don't know. Maybe they are all punk kids and punk kids will retaliate against punk kids. But the white kids didn't COWARDLY JUMP THE BLACK KIDS like p*ssy little girls. I know that some black people have a hard time admitting that to themselves.......white people should lose their jobs, freedom, homes, etc. when they say something that isn't even racist about a black person.....but black folks shouldn't even be interrogated when they cowardly JUMP and beat a white kid nearly to his death. i love u kentucky gal lol...but back to the question..just for the same reasons whites receive many injustices..for example..if there were white colleges (like there r black colleges)that would b considerd racist..if there was a white college fund that would b rascist (even though theres a ***** college fund)if there was a National Associaation for the Advancement of White people that would b considered racist..(even though blacks have there naacp) .just like they can have a black television channel.but if there was a white television channel that would b racist as well..or why is it promoted for them to have so called black pride..but u dont dare mention the words white pride ..or how about they can have a black history month without it being racist.but a white person cant have a white history month or it would b racist.or y do u always hear about the k.k.k being racists and bad.but u never hear about there blank panthers being racists and there hate crimes .or how come they can call themselves the "n" word (id say the whole thing if i wouldnt b descriminated by yahoo for being racists torwards blacks,and have my comment thrown out) but anyways y can they say that but if any other white person would there an automatic racists...seems as if the actual racism n america is pointed torwards the white race.when will they ever stop playing there racist card to get them out of anything?..damn wish i could get away with crimes that easy,just by saying racism racism.its all racism on the white race thats why its not considered a hate crime (wow i finally got to play a racism card) feels good yall should try that privillege as well .i hope justice is done..they lock them away for life,because i know if me and a few of my white friends jumped a black guy we would be facing a hate crime and sentenced to life if they didnt try to nail us with the death penalty for it first.Stand up and b proud of your white heritage people.

"hate crimes" are only aimed at white people. if a white kid is attacked by a group of blacks, the news media, cops, and judges will make excuses for them. however, if a white person so much as LOOKS at a black person the wrong way, it's an INSTANT hate crime.

Have you even read what happened? Check it out. I don't think kids should have been fighting because of race. The white kids were being jerks and trying to start fights. I'm sorry to say, the white kid needed his @$$ beat! You can give me all the thumbs down you want!

Come on, you already know. It's because he's white and his attackers were black. That doesn't make for a good hate crime.
Hey Mira, the reason the whites only got suspension while the blacks are facing jail time is because the whites didn't hurt anyone, while the blacks viciously attacked someone. The more damage you do, the more penalties you face. Do you see how it works? It's pretty simple really.
