okay i'm 7 months pregnant and i have always heard that ou have to have an enema before you give birth is that true?

No, not as a matter of routine anymore. I was offered one around 7 cm because I felt like I had to have a bm but was afraid to try and go because I didn't want to have the baby in the commode :)

Not in modern times. Back in the 50's when women gave birth doctors would give enemas and shave the pubic area routinely, but now medical science has proven that's just stupid nonsense and they don't do those things anymore. I've had 4 so far and am pregnant with #5 and I've NEVER had an enema or been shaved. I'd kill anyone who even thought of trying something so midevil!

No, you do not not have to have an enema before giving birth. They put an iv in you, cant' recall what's in it. They ask if you are insterested in the epidural, totally your call (I said hell no originally, but was very happy when I told them go ahead and do it) My daughter is now 7 years old, I am 7 months pregnant with my 2nd now. it is absolutely not true. you have a choice in everything that happens with your body during labor and delivery. you can refuse pretty much any procedure that they suggest. do some reading up on natural childbirth and it will give you an idea of what you don't have to do that many people believe you must do because the doctor suggests it.

They don't MAKE you have one as far as I know. Sometimes during birth women do poo on the table, but they'd rather not embarrass you and don't even tell you if you do or not.
