You won't 'hear' it but in an ultrasound they may be able to see it now. Which is a lovely thing to see on the screen. I am twelve weeks now and I was worried because my doppler wouldn't pick up the heartbeat. I had my scan last week and was told it's because the placenta has built in the way so it's going to be a hard thing to pick up. I got to see it on the screen though 150bpm and the baby was very active. If you're worried go get an ultrasound. Much more reassuring.

The fetus doesn't develop a heart beat until about week 8 or so, so you might be able to, good luck! I'm going to my first ob appt tomorrow morning =)

If they do an ultrasound you'll probably be able to see it, but not hear it. But they might be able to let you hear it... it all depends on their equipment. Generally its not until 10-13 weeks that they can hear it from the outside with the dopplar on your belly.

I heard my baby's heart beat at 9 weeks but my doctor told me before she did it that she might not be able to find it. Just b/c she couldnt get it, didnt mean that it wasnt there.
