I have a 1990 toyota celica gts and while crusing down the highway in 5th gear at about 75 mph the rpm's are at about 3500 and by time i hit 80 there about 4000. this seems really fast to me. my car runs perfect but when im on the highway it really feels like shes gonna blow!!!

that is normal for a Toyota...the clutch in slipping

Yes, that is normal for a 4 cylinder car, they do rev high, just keep the oil clean and those engines can handle those rpm's!

Does not sound normal to me. May be a clutch problem.

You say 5th gear but do you actually have an auto or stick? If it is an auto then you don't actually have a 5th gear 4th at most and that is your overdrive.
