Make it about the family, but make the whole thing about one of them, that feels left out and un-important. And everyone else in the family have this certain "look" like perfect little angels or sumthin. so she decides to make her name known, because she has a special talent unlike her brothers and sisters, she uses that, although it'll be hard and she'll have many obstacles, in the end, it'll be okay, make it have a twist of romace 2!!
I've written a screenplay 4 a contest b4 and won $250 for it!!!
I want to be a director when I grow up, 2!! So maybe my idea will help you!!! ;-)))

Go back and watch old episodes of the sitcom that spun off of "Growing Pains" called "Just The Ten Of Us".
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0094490/
"Coach Graham Lubbock, introduced on "Growing Pains," decides to move his large family out to California when his wife becomes pregnant with their eighth child. The Coach takes a job at the Catholic school where his five daughters and one son are enrolled. The oldest daughter, Marie, wants to become a nun; Wendy and Cindy are the exact opposite, and enjoy much attention from the boys at school; Connie is an intellectual idealist; J.R. is the lone boy (aside from one of the babies) in the group of girls; he and Sherry are the most mischievous of the group. Eventually, the four oldest girls form a singing group, with Wendy and Cindy's personalities often showing in their performances, even through Connie and Marie."
Or maybe watch the movies "With Six You Get Eggroll" or "Yours, Mine and Ours".

Screen plays have a rigid format which you will have to learn to even get your work glanced at. You should have the story first and normally a writer doesn't need to ask about a story, just some smaller details. Why pick that topic if it is not something you are familiar with.

How about focusing on one. A teenage girl, who falls in love with an older guy who is a friend of the family. Sorry I love romance movies :)

Whatever you do, just don't make it like Yours, Mine, and ours with Dennis Quaid.
