I don't think that was her reason, she said she thought it was because of the culture he grew up in.I don't know what country he was born in,so maybe she is right. She said MAYBE.

Okay, I just pulled up what Whoopie Goldberg said on the view. She was not defending Michael Vick. She simply stated that in some parts of the United States, predominately the South, men fight dogs. Whoopie Goldberg seems to be the type of person to say what others are thinking. Michael Vick (I had never even heard of him before this) just happened to be a celebrity who brought this to the forefront. This has been going on for years and just because Whoopie Goldberg refuses to turn a blind eye to parts of the country that this is happening in. Don't negate what she is saying. It happens. What are we going to do about it. Pit Bulls get such a bum rap. They the some of the most gentlest dogs in the world. I own an American Stafford shire Terrier and they look similar. When I walk him in the park people steer clear. They look at me as if I am out exercising my fighting dog. According to Veterinarians, these terriers, unless they belong to horrible owners are the best natured animals. They see more Dalmatian ,Poodle & Chow bites. Thank you Whoopie, I know you weren't saying all southerners fight dogs, there are just a lot of back alley back woods people out there who do. Who cares what color he is. He did a bad thing and he's going to pay the price. Hopefully, this can be a lesson to any young people out there who might be drawn into something like this.

I am offended to hear her say this is a deep south tradition. Very! What or where does she get the credentials to act as authority on this? Was she born in the deep south or New York? I want to write the network but don't know where to send the letter/e-mail

I don't know and I don't care what she says....what he did is still wrong. She can defend him all she wants. I will not be watching the view.

Of course that's the reason. But if a white defended a white, we would be a racist......

I think her saying it was because he was from the south and it is common is irresponsible. I am from the south and I have always known it is illegal and wrong. There is no excuse for it. He knew it was wrong and illegal or the fights wouldn't have been held secretly.
