Go to microsoft.com and click on support. Go through the troubleshooting and download the appropriate driver. Either that or contact the make of your computer (HP, Emachines, etc...) either through online chat or over the phone and they'll walk you through the whole thing.

How did you erase the driver? You have the option of "rolling back" the driver to a previous version, if you have made a change. To do this, go to Control-Panel --> System, and click on the Hardware tab, and then click on Device Manger. Find your sound card and double-click. Click the driver tab, and then click "Roll Back Driver".
If this doesn't fix your issue, follow the 1st person in going to the manufacturer's website. Don't do a full system restore, that's a little extreme for a sound card driver.

You can try to go back to a restore point. (start -- Programs-- Accecories-- System Tools-- System Restore. ) Or, assuming your pc came with a backup disc, and there's nothing you need to save. Even if you dont have a backup disc, you probably have a backup partition, probably labelled as "D". Just save and copy anything you need to keep, and run the backup. Unless you know specifically what sound driver it was, than you can just download it from the net more than likely. If I had to guess, I would say it was probably Realtek, if it came with your PC.

I used to do the comparable situation with my Hp computing device earlier. it is no longer purely re-setting up domicile windows. If it is something like the Hp computing device I had, there are extra data that must be put in for all the drivers and hardware that contain the computing gadget. verify with the Acer website and do a seek on that express kind. wish this permits even via purely a splash...

try the system restorer under Programs > Accessories > Sytem tools > System Resotre and go back to before you erased it.
if that doesn't work download it from the manufacters website and reinstall it.
Or you should have a restore CD or partition with the option to restore at boot up, something like hit F10

hmm.. search for the driver of you soundcard, you can download it from the internet..
just type the name of your soundcard in the search box and download sites for the driver are there.. just be careful ;).
just do that if you don't know the manufacturer's site ;) but if you do.. it's better to download it there..
good luck ;)
