ACC, hmmm, i say Boston College. Decent up and coming quarterback, hard hitters on defense, it fills your ACC need. They should more than likely end up in at least the ACC title game. Semi close to your general vicinity.
If that is not your bag and you want to stray from the ACC then i second the call on Rutgers.

Arkansas
Best Rushing team in the SEC for 4 of the last 5 years.
Has the coolest chant of any team in the NCAA (Woo Pig Sooie!)
The most exciting player in the game with Darren McFadden
The off season drama keeps you involved :P
An explosive offense that makes just enough mistakes to drive you crazy... which keeps you interested :)
A fast D that is hard hitting as well as young and eager... should make for some fun fun fun this year :)
Plus we are always the underdog of the SEC West.. but we almost always play solid games... heck, the last two years we've only lost to LSU by a combined 7 points!
Just a thought.... :)

Pick ACC Florida State
For this reason. You have college footballs all time winning coach, and a school with 2 national titles in the 90's out of 4 national title appearances.
I would like to say follow FSU because they're so good, but last nights lost to Clemson makes that debatable.
I like the Seminoles because of their commitment to winning by making some major changes in their coaching staff in the off season. They made a strong come back effort last night although it was too little to late. I don't see them as ACC champs this year, but they usually provide for some fun games to watch.

The Huskies!! They are going places this year. In a game featuring two quarterbacks who had never started in college, Jake Locker easily outperformed Andrew Robinson. Locker, the gem of Washington's 2005 recruiting class who was given the No. 1 job at the start of spring practice and held off a strong challenge from senior Carl Bonnell, ran for 83 yards on 10 carries and was 14-for-19 passing for 142 yards before being replaced by Bonnell in the fourth quarter. He is awesome!

Virginia Tech. #1 Defense in college last year.
Great special teams, no one blocked more kicks over the last 15 years and perhaps, ever. Frank Beamer is an alum and took his school to national promenence.

West Virginia Mountaineers why you ask because currently they are one of the best teams in the country with the best backfield in the country with pat white and steve slaton. they also recruited the number one running back this year in noel devine and will be a force to be reconed with some history is that wvu has had two undeafed seasons 1988 and 1993 and reaching the national title once in 88 where they lost to notre dame. in 2004 kay jay harris set a big east record with 337 rushing yards in a game against east carolina last season pat white was selected offensive player of the year in the big east they have won two bowl games in a row the nokia sugar bowl against georgia and the gator bowl against georgia tech

Why not Rutgers? They are a definite up and comer. They are starting to keep all of those prime NJ recruits for themselves. It is probably early enough that you wouldn't be accused of "jumping on the bandwagon."
If you have something against NJ teams just sit down and watch one WVU game. That offense is the most exciting thing going in the NCAA today!!!

Yes... Several years ago Florida State had a choice between the SEC and the ACC. They chose the ACC so the schedule would be easier and they could dominate their conference.

Off the top of my head, I'd say you should take a good look at Syracuse. Great winning tradition. Locale works for you.
Or you could jump on the bandwagon and root for USC, because everyone else does.
