If it's the song I'm thinking of, it was written by Cat Stevens but recorded by The Tremeloes. It sounds quite different from their other big hit "Silence Is Golden".

Maybe by Cat Stevens recorded in 1967 or pop-punk cover in late '70s by The Jags dunno if it was a recently HERE COMES MY BABY song you was asking.
